A renowned Australian journalist, having started her career in The Australian’s Canberra bureau in 1994 and having since covered major news stories working as a reporter, foreign correspondent, deputy editor and columnist in Australia and overseas.

Matthew Cranston
Economics correspondent, The Australian
Cranston is The Australian’s Economics Correspondent based in Parliament House. He is an award winning journalist who previously covered the Trump and Biden administrations as White House Correspondent in Washington.

Geoff Chambers
Chief political correspondent, The Australian
Chambers is The Australian’s Chief Political Correspondent. He was previously The Australian’s Canberra Bureau Chief and Queensland Bureau Chief. As a senior journalist and political reporter, he has covered budgets and elections across the nation and worked in the Queensland, NSW and Canberra press galleries.

Sarah Ison
Political reporter, The Australian
Ison is a political reporter in The Australian’s Canberra press gallery bureau, where she covers a range of rounds from higher education to social affairs. Sarah was a federal political reporter with The West Australian’s Canberra team between 2019 and 2021, before which she worked in the masthead’s Perth newsroom. Sarah made her start in regional journalism at the Busselton-Dunsborough Times in 2017.
